Regular opening hours

Tuesday to Sunday: 10am – 6pm

First Thursday of each month – Late Thursday / KölnTag: 10am – 10pm except bank holidays

Closed on Mondays except the following bank holidays: On Easter Monday (29 March 2027) and Whit Monday (25 May 2026, 17 May 2027) the museum is open.

Closed on December 24th, Christmas Day (25 Dec), New Year's Eve (31 Dec), New Year's Day (1 Jan) and on 4th, 7th and 8th February 2027 (Carnival).

Free admission for residents of Cologne (ID proof).
Concessionary admission to all exhibitions from 5 pm for non-Cologne-based people.

 

Concessionary admission

Concessionary admission to the permanent collections and to the special exhibitions is granted to:

  • Trainees,
  • apprentices,
  • students,
  • voluntary service workers
  • non-Cologne-based visitors on KölnTag (1st Thursday of each month except on holidays) from 5 pm on,
  • severely disabled persons (one accompanying person will be admitted for free on the presentation of a disability pass marked with the letter B),
  • owner of the BBK-Card (Bundesverband Bildender Künstler*innen e.V.),
  • owner of the IAA Card (Inertentional Association of Art)
  • owners of artCard.

Concessionary admission to the permanent collections is granted to:

  • owners of a KölnCard.

Concessionary admission to the special exhibitions is granted to:

  • members of the Museumspädagogischen Gesellschaft e.V. (mpg).

 

Free admission

Free admission to the permanent collections is granted to:

  • Children and youngsters up to age 18,
  • all art history and art technology/conservation and design students (with valid student ID),
  • members of the Museumspädagogischen Gesellschaft e.V. (mpg).

Free admission to the permanent collections and special exhibitons is granted to:

  • Children up to age 6,
  • children and youngsters up to age 18 living in Cologne,
  • all school attendees (including two supervisors per school class),
  • everyone living in Cologne on their birthday and on KölnTagen (see above),
  • owners of a KölnPass,
  • members of ICOM,
  • members of Deutscher Museumsbund,
  • refugees from Ukraine,
  • members of the Overstolzengesellschaft and the Freunde der Art Cologne
  • Artist Card Cologne,
  • members of Deutscher Verband für Kunstgeschichte e.V.

MuseumsCard Family: € 30 (two adults and two children)
 
Combined ticket for all Museums of the City of Cologne, valid on two consecutive days, incl. free ticket for public transport in Cologne on the first day.
