Sustainability at MAKK

The importance of sustainability in today's society is undeniable. Museums of art and design in particular play a crucial role when it comes to promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness of environmentally friendly solutions.

As a future-oriented museum, the MAKK wants to consciously pursue sustainable goals in line with the 2030 Agenda. For example, we aim to make a significant contribution to reducing our environmental footprint by using environmentally friendly materials, energy-efficient systems and sustainable construction practices in the area of building maintenance and exhibitions. The use of recycled materials is just one way in which a museum can be designed to be environmentally conscious.

Energy efficiency and resource management

As a sustainable museum, we also strive to optimize our energy consumption. We are therefore working on improving or renewing our lighting, heating and cooling systems and striving to use intelligent control technologies to reduce energy consumption. We also pursue a well thought-out resource management policy to minimize waste and promote recycling processes.

Raising awareness through art and design education

The communication of art and design goes beyond the presentation of exhibits. As a museum, we have a responsibility to inform visitors about the importance of sustainability in art. Through workshops, lectures and exhibitions, we want to help raise awareness of environmentally friendly practices and sustainable materials.

Collaborations with sustainable designers

The MAKK promotes collaboration with designers and artists who specialize in sustainable practices. In this way, we aim to further strengthen our commitment to sustainability. By presenting the works created in cooperation and promoting sustainable concepts, we want to serve as a platform for innovative ideas that follow both aesthetic and ecological principles.
