The MAKK Creative Lab is a multifunctional space that serves as a workshop area, a third place and a Repair Café. Thanks to its excellent new fittings, the guiding principle of co-creation and experiencing design processes first-hand becomes a reality – from traditional craft techniques to innovative design developments.
A mobile room divider separates the third place from the workshop area. This room element is multifunctional and can be used for theatre, shadow theatre and photography. The workshop area, featuring mobile cupboards, modular tables and chairs of various heights for young and old, offers maximum flexibility. Equipped with charging stations, laptops, 3D printers, 3D scanners and laser engravers, there are virtually no limits to creative use.
The diverse programme at the MAKK Creative Lab is organised by the Cologne Museum Service and the MAKK in collaboration with designers from the independent scene, universities and key players in Cologne’s sustainability scene. The programme offered by the Cologne Museum Service ranges from workshops for children, young people and adults to children’s birthday parties and includes – in addition to traditional artistic techniques – photography, jewellery design, upcycling, woodworking, textile design, porcelain and glass design, modelling and paper-making.
The MAKK Creative Lab was made possible by funding from the City of Cologne and generous donations from members of the Overstolzengesellschaft.
