Mobile and bright
Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
What would a lamp look like that casts light like a pendant, while providing much more flexibility? That’s what Achille Castiglioni asked himself. When you install a pendant above a dinner table, run a power cable and screw a bracket to the ceiling, the table must be placed below this point. As soon as you move the table, for example for a party, the pendant will just hang around in the air and get in the way. That's why Castiglioni developed Arco, the Arch Lamp. The name says it all: the lamp is not suspended from the ceiling, but, with its heavy and high-quality marble foot, it stands firmly on the floor. A large arch with a reflector mounted at its end projects from the foot and the lamp is suspended above the table just like a pendant.
