State Prize MANUFACTUM for Applied Art and Design in Craftsmanship

27 May - 13 August 2023

With the exhibition "MANUFACTUM", the Museum of Applied Arts Cologne (MAKK) showcases around 100 works selected by a jury of experts from the numerous submissions. Among these nominees, a jury selects works by six artisans and designers and awards them the State Prize. Outstanding achievements in the fields of visual and print media, clothing and textiles, furniture, object and sculpture, jewellery as well as living and outdoor areas are honoured. The State Prize has been awarded every two years since 1963 by the state government to creative craftspeople from North Rhine-Westphalia. It is thus one of the most traditional and, with a total of 60,000 euros in prize money, one of the most important prizes of its kind in Germany. The Aachen Chamber of Skilled Crafts is organising the 31st competition for the state government under the patronage of the Premier Hendrik Wüst.
