Due to renovation work, payment with EC Cash, Girocard and Girogo is unfortunately not possible at the moment.

Renovation and reconception Historical Collections
In the course of the new conception of the Historical Collections and the renovation work, it is necessary to close the Historical Collections (main floor) to the public.

Design, art, special exhibitions
The permanent exhibition "Art + Design in Dialog" and special exhibitions are open.

Medical masks
We recommend to wear a medical mask when visiting the museum and attending events or guided tours and courses/workshops. 

Opening Times

Tuesday to Sunday: 10am – 6pm

Bank holidays: 10am – 6pm (Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day (1 May), Ascension Day, Feast of Corpus Christi, Whit Monday, Day of German Unity (3 Oct), All Saints' Day (1 Nov), 2nd Day of Christmas (26 Dec)

First Thursday of each month – Late Thursday / KölnTag: 10am – 10pm

Closed on Mondays except bank holidays: Easter Monday (10.4.2023), Labour Day (1.5.2023) und Whit Monday (29.5.2023).

Closed on December 24th, Christmas Day (25 Dec), New Year's Eve (31 Dec), New Year's Day (1 Jan) and on Carnival (8, 11 and 12 Feb 2024).

 

The Historical collections will be closed for several years due to refurbishment and new exhibition concept.

First Thursday of each month except on holidays – KölnTag:
Free admission for Cologne citizens, 5pm-10pm concessions for all visitors. (The Historical collections are closed due to refurbishment.)

Reduced Admission

Trainees, apprentices, students, voluntary service workers and welfare recipients on presentation of valid proof. Non Cologne-based visitors on KölnTag (1st Thursday of each month except on holidays) from 5 pm on, severely disabled persons (one accompanying person will be admitted for free on the presentation of a disability pass marked with the letter B).

Free Admission

Free admission to the permanent collections is granted to:
Children and youngsters up to age 18,
all art history and art technology/conservation and design students (with valid student ID).

Free admission to the permanent collections and special exhibitons is granted to:
Children up to age 6,
children and youngsters up to age 18 living in Cologne,
all school attendees (including two supervisors per school class),
everyone living in Cologne on their birthday and on KölnTagen,
owners of a KölnPass,
refugees from Ukraine as well as
members of the Overstolzengesellschaft and the Freunde der Art Cologne.

The Historical collections are closed due to refurbishment.

MuseumsCard Family: € 30 (two adults and two children)
 
Combined ticket for all Museums of the City of Cologne, valid on two consecutive days, incl. free ticket for public transport in Cologne on the first day.
